Youth Drug SurveyAbout The Survey
The Center for Prevention Services (CPS) has been administering the Youth Drug Survey to Mecklenburg County students in 6th, 8th, 10th, and 12th grades for over 30 years, providing Mecklenburg County organizations and the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System with longitudinal data regarding substance use among county youth. In spring 2020, the Youth Drug Survey (YDS) will be offered in Rowan-Salisbury schools for the first time.
The YDS assesses youth reported use of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and other drugs; as well as the perception of risk associated with these substances; perceptions regarding peer and parental beliefs surrounding substance use; and intentions for future use. With the support and cooperation of the Rowan-Salisbury School System and YSUP, the Center for Prevention Services will administer the Youth Drug Survey to Rowan County 6th, 8th, 10th, and 12th graders. The data collected by this survey will provide the school system and substance use prevention organizations with valuable insight into the needs of Rowan County youth. Links to the full survey and the parent consent form (in English and Spanish) are below.
