If you have private insurance or Medicare, talk with your own physician about making a referral to a licensed counselor/therapist. You can also contact your insurance company to get a list a list of licensed providers who accept your insurance. Be sure and check your policy for coverage and deductibles.

If you have Medicaid or don’t have health insurance, contact Cardinal Innovations, the area Managed Care Organization (MCO). They can help you find a licensed counselor/therapist. mental, emotional and psychological health are just as important as good physical health. It starts with getting an appointment for an assessment with a licensed counselor/therapist.

Keep My Meds Safe?

Did you know? 66% of teens get their prescription drugs from friends and family, not street pushers (SAMHSA).

  • Secure your medication (lock box)
  • Regularly take inventory of your medication to ensure mothering is missing
  • Safely dispose of unused or expired meds
  • Spread the word to family and friends

Be Aware. Don’t Share.

Safely dispose of unused or expired medication?

Rowan County collected 2,735.12 pounds of medication between January and December 2017.

We currently have 11 medication take-back boxes conveniently located in Rowan County for our citizens to utilize. The Rowan County Health Department purchased nine of the eleven boxes since 2016. The Salisbury and Kannapolis Police Departments already had their own boxes in place. Currently, we do not distribute chemical disposal kits (Deterra).
